Roses need to be pruned by the 15th of this month. You can also plant new container grown and packaged roses. You can move or transplant anything that needs to be moved at this time. Plant fruit trees now as well as pecans, berries, and grapes. Prune peach and plum trees to 1/2 their old growth. Trim roses back about 1/3. Think about starting a compost pile, using your own compost is extremely cost effective. You can plant onion slips and seed potatoes now. Replace any pansies or kale that may have died during the cold weather.
